For those people who can’t or won’t use ultraviolet tanning booths, D’ Tanning Spa offers the “Magic Tan”. It is the only method in Puerto Rico in which you can get a tan that darkens your skin in only a minute. The Magic Tan contains DHA and Erythrullose, which are active ingredients that are based on sugars. These ingredients react with the proteins and amino acids that normally exist in the outer layers of the skin and create a tan that is similar to one obtained under solar radiation. These ingredients are so safe, that they have been in use for many years in makeup and food coloring. The darkening of the skin lasts from 5 to 12 days and disappears gradually in a uniform manner.

During a Magic Tan session, one is required to enter the booth with a clean skin, and without makeup or perfumes. The user is required to remove all jewelry and objects that may impede the uniform application of the spray on the skin. During the session, the user is required to stand in 4 different positions for 15 seconds, which are shown in a video before the session. Customers are advised not to shower until at least 6 hours after a Magic Tan session in order to maximize its effects on the skin.


PRODUCTS:  

The Ultra Violet Lamp tanning booths in our salon emit approximately 2.8% to 3.0% of Ultra Violet Rays B (UVB) and the rest are of the Ultra Violet A type (UVA). When a person is exposed directly to solar radiation the amount of UVB can fluctuate between 5% – 10 %, depending on the position of the sun and the current temperature. Clearly, these elements of nature cannot be controlled. In addition to this, our Ultra Violet tanning booths are “low pressure” units, compared to “high pressure” units used in other countries. This means that out booths do not require of any kind of filters to block the destructive UVC rays that the high-pressure units generate. In our Royal Sun Focus Ultra Violet tanning booths, the user can minimize the risks that are associated with exposure to the sun, given the fact that over exposure to it can bring as consequences the burning and peeling of the skin, which in turn causes skin damage.

By using the Royal Sun Focus booth, a customer can create a base tan by activating the melanin the skin. Exposure to the UV rays is controlled and for that reason your skin will not burn or peel. All of our customers will fill out a medical survey that enables us to determine their skin type by using a questionnaire that was designed by dermatologists. This information is invaluable when determining the degree of intensity of the UV rays that a person can tolerate. The maximum time that a customer is allowed in a booth can vary from 7 to 10 minutes. Our salon also stocks a number of tanning lotions that can be used to further complement UV lamp tanning sessions. Customers who use the Royal Sun Focus booth are normally advised not to shower in two hours after the session.


About Ultra Violet exposure:

• It is important to know that sunlight’s UV rays are the only reliable source of Vitamin D and it covers the needs of most of the world’s population, according to a Boston University study from 1989.
   

• According to Dr. Cedric Garland, 15 minutes of daily UV light exposure on the hands and face (wearing no sun block protection) are enough to satisfy the daily required dose of Vitamin D. (University of California, San Diego, 1993).
   

• According to studies from the University of Frankfurt (1992), UV light exposure produces effects that are similar to physical exercise, among which are reduction of cardiac rhythm when at rest and an increase by 39% of the heart’s pumping volume.
